Pamela Shamshiri and The NANZ Company have been longtime mutual admirers. Having worked together for many years, Pamela and NANZ’s co-founder Carl Sorenson set out to create a line of hardware that would be “just right” for the hand-made rustic California style that Studio Shamshiri had become so good at creating.
Wood, leather and Cast Bronze would be the material choices for the line. Sculpted shapes with organic references found in nature would be the inspiration. Harkening back to hand made houses of artists like JB Blunk, Georgia O’Keeffe, Gordon Onslow Ford, David Ireland, Russel Wright or Harvey Fite, the line of door and cabinetry hardware is very much made and finished one piece at a time. We created products to accommodate the requirements of specific projects, one in LA and one in Ojai, creating two unique collections.
With California landscapes as the inspiration for materials and form, this collaboration centered around line, texture, and cast bronze.
The 9584 Gravity Bar Latch is shown here in a verdigris finish that highlights the rustic appeal of the piece. The latch is well suited to a range of finishes and styles.
